Whether your film is being distributed through a studio with its own international offices, or a network of third-party international distributors, you need to be in an ongoing dialogue with your distributor.

Apart from anything else, there are important things that they need from you in order to produce a marketing campaign worthy of your movie.

Like the creative assets to cut a great trailer.  And a poster.  Those two things are essential.

And if your movie is not clear-cut in terms of its audience, they need as much time as possible to position it carefully, to make sure that their campaign touches the right audience in the right way.

Studio or independent – each system has its advantages, but both need your input in creating the right strategy for your movie.
